As an insurance agent who  focuses on health insurance products--one of the questions I hear the most is "why is my premium increasing when I only went to the doctor one time last year?"  Anthem has published a flyer that explains not only why your health insurance costs are going up (and fast) but ways to control cost.

"The fact is that costs are rising rapidly within the whole health care system.  By 2019, the U.S. will spend abot $4.4 trillion on health care.  Yes, trillion with a "t." It's hard to wrap your head around a number that big, isn't it?  Here's what it really means:

  • Almost twice what we spent in 2007
  • About 1/5 of the economy
  • More than $13,000 per person per year"
